Modem.pl Frequently Asked Questions 0. Does this work with my Motorola SURFboard modem? 1. All I get is "Couldn't get modem signal page!" 2. All I get is "Content failed!" 3. Can I get more information from the modem? ======================================================================== Does this work with my Motorola SURFboard modem? ======================================================================== Modem.pl currently supports models SB4200, SB5100, SB5100E, SB5101 and SBV5120E. If your modem isn't one of these, it may work, but probably won't. If it does work, please let me know so I can update the FAQ. If it doesn't work, please let me know as well and I'll see if I can modify the program to work with your model as well. ======================================================================== All I get is "Couldn't get modem signal page!" ======================================================================== Is your modem one of the supported models above? When the cable modem looses signal completely it will not respond to web requests. Your cable connection may be bad, or maybe your modem has died (it happens). ======================================================================== All I get is "Content failed!" ======================================================================== Is your modem one of the supported models above? It's possible that a firmware upgrade has changed the layout of the modem signal page. Try to log onto the modem directly with a web browser and send me a copy of the page source for the signal section. ======================================================================== Can I get more information from the modem? ======================================================================== Yes you can. The 'Down Power', 'S/N' (Signal to Noise ratio) and the 'Up Power' are the most useful values for monitoring the health of your connection. The script also captures the Down Frequency, Up Frequency and Up Channel ID. There's a commented section of code at the end which dumps all these values.
